Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal, paid a visit to the Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectric Project constructed by POWERCHINA, accompanied by Yu Hong, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal and various government ministers on April 11. He is satisfied with the project's progress.

The prime minister asked detailed questions about the project's general situation and the progress of construction. The project manager introduced details of the project's situation, the challenges the construction team faces and construction phases.

Prime Minister Oli said that the Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectric Project is important to Nepal since it concerns the electricity demands of more than half of the country's population. "I'm satisfied with the project's progress and with what you did after the the Gorkha earthquake. Here I express our gratitude for the hard work of the employees of POWERCHINA and for the support of the Chinese government. We hope that the hydropower station will soon be completed and bring benefit to people in Nepal."

Yu had an informal discussion with the employees working on the project. She pointed out that the Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectric Project is the largest in Nepal and is of great significance to China's enterprises' participation in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.

She expressed her regards to the employees who have worked in the remote areas of Nepal for a long time. She also expressed the wish that the whole team will press on with the work, overcome obstacles and finish the project in time, contributing to neighborly relations between the two countries and to the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Since the project began, employees have made unremitting efforts. The project stood the test of a magnitude 8.1 earthquake and received praise from the prime minister. The employees intend to keep up the work and complete the project to a high standard, adding to the friendly relations between China and Nepal.
