Sri Lanka president speaks highly of POWERCHINA's project

A delegation led by Maithripala Sirisena, president of Sri Lanka, recently visited the Moragahakanda first reservoir hub, M Dam, attracting attention from local media outlets. Multiple university students from Kandy also visited the project site.

It was the ninth time that the president came to the site for inspection and guidance, signifying the dam's importance to Sri Lanka's government and local residents.

The president inspected the units in operation, enjoyed the full view of the dam and was introduced to the the operation report, expressing satisfaction to the project's stability. In addition, he also gave blessings for the people of Sri Lanka at the dam.

At half past ten, the president opened the sluice gates of the M Dam, with a huge quantity of water gushing through. The visitors cheered for the grand moment.

Known as the "Three Gorges Project in Sri Lanka," the M Dam was undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA. Groundbreaking started in July 2012, closure in July 2017, and handing-over in January 2018.

The dam has provided Sri Lanka with a sustainable power supply while also promoting the friendship between Chinese and Sri Lankan people.
