Ma Zonglin Meets With Students Of Ministerial Workshop

Ma Zonglin, president of POWERCHINA, met with students of the Ministerial Workshop on Water Conservancy Economy of Developing Countries on Aug 12 at POWERCHINA's headquarters.

The Ministry of Finance entrusted Zhongnan Engineering Corporation, a POWERCHINA subsidiary, to organize the Ministerial Workshop on Water Conservancy Economy of Developing Countries. This year was the second time Zhongnan Engineering Corporation held the workshop. It lasted 14 days. Twenty-one officials from Asian, African, South American and South Pacific countries participated in the workshop.

In his opening speech, Ma Zonglin said that China, being a developing country, was willing to share its experiences in development and strengthen cooperation with counties worldwide. He also pointed out that water resources management was critical to people's quality of life and social and economic development. POWERCHINA is willing to contribute to the hydropower development of countries worldwide with its full-range capacity including investigation, design, consultancy, construction, operation and maintenance.

Alemayehu Tegenu Argaw, the minister of water and energy of Ethiopia, spoke on behalf of the students of the workshop. He thanked POWERCHINA for its warm reception and expressed appreciation for the great chance to learn. He said energy efficiency in consumption and development was critical to all countries and they welcomed enterprises with expertise and experience like POWERCHINA to go overseas.
