Yan Zhiyong, vice-chairman of POWERCHINA, met with Inia Seruiratu-Fiji's minister of agriculture, fisheries and forests and minister of rural and maritime development and national disaster management-and his colleague on Aug 12.
Yan Zhiyong first introduced POWERCHINA. He then pointed out that as a country rich in hydropower resources, Fiji needed a comprehensive and systematic hydropower development plan nationwide that took into consideration the functions of flood control, irrigation and power generation to manage and make full use of hydropower resources. Yan Zhiyong also said that China and Fiji shared the same goal, and PowerChina was willing to contribute to the hydropower development of Fiji with its comprehensive services.
Inia Seruiratu agreed with Yan Zhiyong. He said that Fiji had great potential in hydropower development and Fiji welcomed POWERCHINA to offer its strengths in Fiji's social and economic development.
