Tanzania President Attends Ceremony for Mbinga Road

On July 19, President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania; Lv Youqing, Chinese ambassador; and other officials attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the completion of the Peramiho Jct – Mbinga Road upgrading project, which was undertaken by POWERCHINA.

In his speech, the president spoke highly of the project and expressed appreciation for the contribution made by POWERCHINA the improvement of local infrastructure and economic development.

The ambassador praised the effective cooperation among all the involved parties, saying that the successful implementation of this project was widely applauded by local communities. It also helped to enhance the good image of Chinese enterprises in fulfilling their social responsibilities.

The work consists of a double way, double bituminous surface dressed road measuring 78km long with cement stabilized subbase and crushed stone base course. It was funded by the USA Millennium Challenge Account. During its implementation, the project management team strictly followed relevant standards in environment, health and safety. It completed the project on Jan 7, 2014.
