POWERCHINA Signs Agreements on Two Projects in Pakistan

On April 20 local time, President Xi Jinping held talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan in Islamabad. They witnessed the signing of a series of agreements to further cooperate in energy, infrastructure, security and economic development. Yan Zhiyong, the chairman of POWERCHINA signed the agreement on Port Qasim 2×660 MW super critical coal-fired power project and Dawood wind power project.

As the first energy project of the China-Pakistan economic corridor, Port Qasim 2×660 MW super critical coal-fired power project obtained high attention from both China and Pakistan government. It will ease the power shortage in Pakistan.

Dawood wind power project, with a total installed capacity of 49.5 MW, is located in the southeast of Karachi, Sindh Province, and invested by HYDROCHINA International. It will go into operation and generate electricity in the end of 2015.
