On May 24, Chinese State Councilor Wang Yong, accompanied by Yang Huanning, Director of the State Administration of Work Safety, Pan Weifang, Ambassador of China to Jordan, Zhang Ming, Vice Minister of the Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, and Zhang Xiwu, Deputy Director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, inspected and investigated POWERCHINA projects in Jordan. They were given basic information on POWERCHINA and its experience in developing overseas business, and a report on the problems faced by Chinese enterprises in "going global." They also extensively discussed issues regarding Chinese design and equipment, modes of project financing, and the "going global" strategy of Chinese industrials standards.
Following their discussions, Wang Yong delivered an important speech. He pointed out that POWERCHINA has played a leading and exemplary role in "going global" and had made outstanding contributions to the export of China’s power industry chain by implementing the relevant requirements of the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Xi Jinping, and those of Premier Li Keqiang. He acknowledged and praised POWERCHINA’s internationalizing development model of absorbing the world's advanced managerial concepts, creating an innovative EPCO industrial chain management mode with Chinese characteristics, and emphasizing staff training to create a strong backbone for the company. He further praised POWERCHINA’s highly regarded reputation, brand, and achievements gained by fulfilling its obligations, providing high quality guarantees, and following its localization strategy over the last ten years.
Wang Yong made the following demands regarding the future development of Chinese enterprises: first, we should firmly continue down the path of internationalizing development, implement the spirit of "global cooperation of production capacity" proposed by the Central Committee of the Party, and continue to learn lessons and grow from our experiences in the process of "going global" to move forward with innovation-driven development according to market changes; second, we should enhance coordination with company partners both domestically and abroad, as well as consider the whole industrial chain from the perspective of national strategic planning; third, we should establish a baseline for security and adhere to the concept "quality is the life of an enterprise" to eliminate all production safety and quality problems and further improve quality and credibility in fulfilling our obligations; fourth, we should work with overseas publications to share Chinese stories and promote corporate culture to strengthen cohesion and solidarity of enterprises with advanced and diversified cultures, consolidate the foundation and presence of enterprises in competitive markets, and promote better and faster development; fifth, we should continue to learn advanced management concepts from Europe, the United States, Japan, and South Korea and adjust China’s development strategy according to our national conditions and those of Chinese companies to guarantee long-term sustainable development; sixth, we should care for our workers and create harmonious and favorable conditions for them in both their work and daily lives to fully engage their enthusiasm to create a solid foundation for commercial development; seventh, we should intensify communication and cooperation with private corporations exploring new cooperation modes to realize mutually beneficial relationships with dual-win outcomes and synergetic development; eighth, we should follow the leadership of the Party and strengthen the Party to give it full play in corporate commercial development; ninth, we should comply with the laws, regulations, and customs of the host country or region of the project and abide by Party discipline to create a good corporate image and conscientiously safeguard our national image abroad.
Wang Yong stressed that POWERCHINA, as one of the largest power construction enterprises in the world, with the most complete industrial chain, should study and put into practice the guiding principles expressed in General Secretary Xi Jinping's major speeches. In accordance with the arrangements of the Central Economic Work Conference and the Report on the Work of the Government the company should also implement premier Li Keqiang’s five major development concepts of innovation, coordination, green development, opening up and sharing to create better team and project management as the company strives to become a leading central enterprise serving the people and winning renown for China.
After the meeting, Wang and his party visited the Samra Phase II project constructed by POWERCHINA, investigating its operational and technical condition. Wang spoke highly of POWERCHINA’s value in exporting home-made electrical and mechanical equipment, completing projects with high-quality construction, and maintaining good professional relationships.
