Ecuador President revisits aided school placement project

Updated: June 01,2016

On the eve of International Children's Day, Rafael Correa, the President of Ecuador, visited POWERCHINA's aided school placement project at 9:00 pm in the aftermath of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Manta of Manabí province. It was his second visit to the school placement project within 20 days.

After completing his trip in Manta City, the president arrived at the construction site and inspected the intensive but orderly construction in progress and questioned the engineers on site about the design, scheduling, and other details of the project.

At present, the school placement project has already taken shape. President Correa expressed his appreciation for the progress and quality of the project. After the last inspection, he requested to change the housing placement project into the school placement project to solve the most pressing problem, a shortage of classrooms, to satisfy the needs of the earthquake-stricken area in Ecuador.

He repeatedly used Chinese at the construction site saying "xiexie" (thank you) to show his gratitude for all of the help provided by POWERCHINA in the quake's aftermath and their endeavors to get the children back to school.

The Manta school placement project is a key project of POWERCHINA's in the relief and reconstruction of the region in the aftermath of the earthquake. Under the request of the local government, POWERCHINA will build more than 50 classrooms covering an area of more than 2,000 square meters in the most devastated areas of the regions.
