Updated: July 18,2016

POWERCHINA completed its first African electricity project on July 17, as the CoteD'lvoire Soubre 225 kV Transmission Line Project kicked into life. The project is also the first of its kind to be completed within the contract period in the country.

The Soubre Hydropower Station, built by POWERCHINA, is the largest hydropower station project in CoteD'lvoire. The Sichuan Electric Power Design & Consulting Company undertook the construction. The project covers through eight provinces, including Soubre and Abidjan, covering a total length of 376.835 kilometers, with the height above sea level reaching 40 to 330 meters. In addition, the project consisted of six 225 kV lines, one 33 kV line, three power transmission extension projects and one power transmission retrofit project.

The company’s experience in goods and material management and other aspects in power transmission projects in Africa are universal and exemplary. The completion of the Soubre transmission project significantly improves the energy structure dominated by coal-power in Cote D'lvoire and will provide and guarantee for more reliable and clean energy for local people.

The Soubre power project, known as the country’s “lighthouse” project, has a total installed capacity of 275,000 kW. Since its commencement in May 2013, POWERCHINA has been highly complimented by the President and Prime Minister of Cote D'lvoire, as well as local governments for its high efficiency and excellent management.
