The first of its kind in the country, a 350 megawatt supercritical coal-fired plant started generating electricity in Jerada, Morocco on Sept 19, 2017.
Built by POWERCHINA's subsidiary – Sepco III Electric Power Construction Corp, the power plant is the first project in Morocco for the construction powerhouse, which has given great attention to design, planning, quality control and more since its construction.
Quality was the top priority as the working team strictly controlled the production process, engineering and procurement follow-up. In a brief 35 hours, the boiler, steam-line blowing, and hot-state flushing successfully ignited. The steam turbine running on time, efficient heat preservation for the whole plant, and smooth operation of the coal system and sewage treatment system also laid a solid foundation for the project's completion.
Furthermore, in addition to taking its first steps in the Moroccan market, POWERCHINA strengthens its construction-speed reputation with all of the construction procedures being finished ahead of schedule.
The project is expected to help eastern Morocco overcome power shortage while bolstering local social and economic growth. It will also pave the way for China to promote domestic electromechanical equipment and design around the world.
