The first unit of the Indonesian Muara Jawa Coal-fired Power Plant has been connected to the grid and started generating electricity on Aug 16, 2018.
Mrs. Inten, president of Indonesia's state-run power company PLN, Mr. Machnison, regional president of PLN (Kalimantan), and multiple media outlets were present at the ceremony.
Undertaken by POWERCHINA's subsidiary SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Corporation, the Muara Jawa 2×27.5 MW coal-fired power plant project is located in Teluk Dalam village, Muara Jawa, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Opening in October 2015, the plant is a key infrastructure project in Muara Jawa, and will offer the region a reliable power supply, boost local economic development, reuse waste resources, reduce pollution, and enhance environmental protection.
It is PLN's first project in 2018 to connect to the grid, and the only to finish within the contract duration, winning high praise from the local government and the project owner--Indonesia Power.
The project's successful connection to the grid also served as a celebration of the Indonesian Independence Day on Aug 17.
