Yan Zhiyong, president of POWERCHINA, met with a Ghanaian delegation led by Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo and signed an agreement to develop Ghana's infrastructure projects on Sept 1.

Yan described POWERCHINA's presence in Ghana and thanked the Ghanaian government's long-term trust and support of POWERCHINA, adding that POWERCHINA is an integrated construction group that provides investment and financing, planning, design, engineering, construction, equipment manufacturing and operation management for hydraulic and hydropower projects and infrastructure. It ranks first in the world in the planning, design and construction of electric power projects and ranks 182nd in the Fortune Global 500.

Yan noted that POWERCHINA has been actively participating in the construction of energy, electricity and infrastructure in Ghana since it entered the Ghanaian market in 2004.

POWERCHINA promotes the localization of resource allocation and employment and is offering job opportunities and vocational training, boosting the local economy in Ghana, Yan said.

POWERCHINA is willing to satisfy the demand of the Ghanaian government by devoting itself to building more projects to improve the livelihood of locals and contribute to the shared future between China and Africa.

Akufo-Addo said that he is pleased to have a meeting with POWERCHINA during his state visit to China and the Ghanaian government attaches great importance to its cooperation with Chinese-funded enterprises. He thanked POWERCHINA for its contribution to Ghana’s economic and social development.

The Bui Hydropower Station is the first large-scale mixed-loan project in Africa and was well received by the masses. It became an example for major engineering universities in Ghana, he said, adding that the country is willing to further strengthen cooperation with POWERCHINA.

Ghana will pledge its full support to more POWERCHINA projects in the future, he noted.
