Yan Zhiyong, president of POWERCHINA, attended a meeting held for Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Chinese enterprises on Sept 2.
Egyptian officials, including the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Minister of Electricity, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as more than 10 Chinese enterprises, attended the meeting.
Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi said that Egypt and China have established a comprehensive strategic partnership and the cooperation between the two countries is expanding to more fields.
Chinese enterprises have made significant achievements in Egypt, he noted, adding that Egypt welcomes more Chinese companies to invest in the country and the government would pledge their full support.
At the meeting, POWERCHINA signed a cooperation framework on the Ataka pumped storage power station project in Egypt with Egyptian Electricity Holding Company. Yan and the Minister of Electricity witnessed the signing.

According to Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Song Aiguo, the Akata power station has been a top priority of Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and the Ministry of Electricity.
The Embassy will spare no effort in supporting the project, Song added.
Yan Zhiyong appreciated Song's support and said POWERCHINA will speed up progress on the Ataka power station project, expand business in Egypt and contribute to China-Egypt cooperation.
Since POWERCHINA entered the Egyptian market in 2011, it has been actively exploring more project contracts and has built up a strong reputation in the industry.
POWERCHINA and its consortium partner GE have completed the Giza North and Banha power plants for Egypt, which play an important role in improving local economy and livelihood.
