POWERCHINA hands over Indonesia's power plant project

SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA, received the Taking-Over Certificate (TOC) issued by the owner of Indonesia's Muara Jawa Power Plant on Nov 30, 2018, marking the temporary handing-over of the project.

The Muara Jawa 2×27.5 MW coal-fired power station is located in Teluk Dalam Village, Muara Jawa, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Unit 1 of the station began operating on Aug 13, 2018 and finished its trail phase on Oct 15, while Unit 2 began operating on Oct 17 and finished its trial phase on Nov 13.

The standby boiler was also turned on and completed the integrated operation test along with the two units on Nov 30, 2018. During trial operations, the units both performed excellently. The construction team tested all the necessary components and operations, including the minimum combustion stable load rate, step load, load swing, load shedding, fast cut back (FCB) and the standby boiler, obtaining essential data on the operation and performance of the units.

The Muara Jawa Power Plant, is an important infrastructure project in the area, as it provides the region with a reliable power supply, boosts local economic development, recycles waste, improves environmental protection and brings considerable conveniences to locals.

During its construction, SEPCOIII provided thousands of training and job opportunities for locals. All construction materials were purchased from local suppliers to stimulate economic growth. In addition, the construction team respected the customs of locals, donated to the needy and participated in various community activities related to education, public welfare and holiday celebrations.

With all systems running smoothly, SEPCOIII and POWERCHINA were praised by the local government. The project owner, Indonesia Power, sent multiple letters of acknowledgement to SEPCOIII and named the Muara Jawa Power Plant the most successful power construction project in Indonesia.

The plant also received many visits from government officials and was reported on by Indonesia's major media groups.

SEPCO III will continue with follow-up work and offer supervisory services during the warranty period.
