POWERCHINA project wins acclaim from Laos Deputy PM

Laos' Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone spoke highly of the Nam Tha 1 Hydropower Plant, which was built by POWERCHINA’s subsidiary Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co, while inspecting the project site on March 12.

The prime minister inspected the construction progress of the main projects including the dam, flood spillway, and water intake.

He was also introduced to the construction quality, safety, flood prevention measures, digital monitoring system, and quality control of the projects, praising the company for its efforts on quality construction by adopting a digital monitoring system based on China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS).

Siphandone also expressed appreciation for Sinohydro’s contribution to Laos’ economic and social development. He said that the Laos government attaches great importance to electric power development and that the Nam Tha 1 hydropower project plays a key role in the country’s development plan.

 In addition to better utilizing water resources and controlling floods, the project will benefit local residents’ quality of life, traffic conditions, medical treatment, education, talent training, and employment opportunities.

Since the project broke ground, Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co has been focused on innovation, quality, and ecology in building a strong hydropower station in Laos. The company introduced the BDS-based digital monitoring technology to ensure quality control.
