Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo inspected the Ostruznica Bridge - Bubanj Potok section of Belgrade's ring road on May 8, which has been undertaken by POWERCHINA.
Mihajlovic said that the Belgrade ring road project is of great significance to Serbia. After completion, the project will not only alleviate the increasingly congested traffic conditions in the capital city, but will also further promote the integration of regional transportation interconnection networks.
Though faced with challenges such as the high proportion of bridges and tunnels, as well as other difficulties during the construction process, POWERCHINA has demonstrated a superb technical level and exemplary construction capacity.
The Serbian government has expressed satisfaction with the project's progress and hoped that the company could continue to work hard. It pledged to provide convenience and support to ensure the steady progress of the project.
Chen said that infrastructure construction is a key area for pragmatic cooperation between the two countries, and it has borne fruitful results in recent years. It has played a positive role in promoting bilateral economic and trade relations, as well as the economic development of China and Serbia.
The Belgrade ring road project has important economic and social significance. Chen expressed appreciation for the Serbian government's support and trust. She believed that POWERCHINA would live up to expectations and complete the project on schedule.
The ambassador also visited the builders' camp to learn about the work and life of Chinese employees. She encouraged them to overcome difficulties and strive to build high-quality projects, which are contributing to the development of POWERCHINA and the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The Belgrade ring road project, which is financed with China's concessional loans, involves the extension of a 20.34 kilometer one-way two-lane highway.
