POWERCHINA wins contract for Nigerian solar power station

POWERCHINA signed an engineering procurement construction, or EPC contract on Jan 8 for its subsidiary SEPCOIII to build the NASS Photovoltaic Energy Storage Power Station in Nigeria.

Located in the business district of Abuja, capital of Nigeria, the solar power plant project is about 41 kilometers from Abuja International Airport. With advanced photovoltaic energy storage technology, officials said it will take 18 months to construct.

It is of great significance to advancing the new energy and power development strategy of the Nigerian government.

This is not the first time SEPCOIII has operated in Nigeria. It previously signed EPC contracts for the Papalanto Power Plant and the Olorunsogo Power Station.

On March 26, 2008, all eight units of the Papalando Power Station completed trial operations, becoming the first power station in Nigeria to start generating electricity among four construction projects that started at the same time..

In 2008, the company signed an EPC general contracting contract for the Olorunsogo Power Station in Nigeria and successfully completed the project’s construction.

The signing of the NASS Photovoltaic Energy Storage Power Station contract, marked a breakthrough by the Chinese company into in the new energy market in Nigeria, further expanding its market share in the country and showcasing POWERCHINA's brand competitiveness in the African power market.
