Updated: 2020-02-11

Responding to the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak, POWERCHINA fully mobilized its overseas branches, representative offices, supply channels, as well as customer resources and logistics networks, to coordinate a global flow of medical supplies for the fight against the epidemic.

That's according to a company spokesman who said that as part of the international effort, on Feb 3 a batch of important medical supplies from Argentina arrived in Shanghai.

After receiving the supplies, Shanghai Electric Power Construction Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA, quickly transferred these supplies to Wuhan city in Central China's Hubei province.

Among those helping with the global procurement program, two power projects that POWERCHINA is involved with in Argentina, the Helios Wind Power Farm and the Cauchari Solar Power Park, donated a total of $20,000.

Meanwhile its Ecuador Branch organized the purchase of 5,920 N95 medical masks and 10,000 general medical masks worth $8,000.

The Pakistan representative office of POWERCHINA purchased 2,000 urgently needed medical N95 masks for the front line, which are currently to be shipped to China.

The Indonesian representative office purchased 25,000 masks and the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway department purchased 5,000 masks, which arrived in Beijing a few days ago.

In addition to purchasing medical supplies, overseas agencies of POWERCHINA also gave donations for the fight against the epidemic.

The Middle East and North Africa Regional Headquarters of POWERCHINA in Dubai donated a total of 10,000 dirham ($2,722) to purchase medical supplies in short supply, jointly with SEPOCO III and SEPCO, subsidiaries of POWERCHINA.

A spokesman said that POWERCHINA's global medical supplies deployment and procurement efforts were still continuing.

He added that the next step is to actively explore how to cooperate with other overseas institutions, to raise more supplies and bring them to the front line of epidemic prevention and control more quickly.
