The water and soil conservation facilities at Beijing Daxing International Airport -- installed by Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA -- passed compliance tests on Aug 28.

The newly-built airport -- located 46 kilometers south of downtown Beijing -- is a large-scale international hub that opened for flights in September 2019.

By 2025, it is expected to handle 72 million passengers, 2 million metric tons of cargo and mail and 620,000 aircraft takeoffs and landings annually.

Since Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited undertook the special design, supervision and technical service work for the airport's soil and water conservation in 2017, it has visited the project site multiple times to carry out technical inspections and organized meetings.

The acceptance of the water and soil conservation facilities was realized as scheduled, by the airport's main contractor, the Ministry of Water Resources and local water administrative departments.

The company implemented green, ecological, environmental protection, low carbon and energy-saving design concepts.

In order to ensure the safety of the airport's construction and operation and effectively control soil erosion, the project adopted what is known as a refined vertical design system.

It also adopted an intelligent zoning and grading rainwater storage and drainage control system, as well as a comprehensive sponge technical system and a high-standard water treatment and utilization system.
