The first batch of wind turbines of the Huanglian Dam Wind Farm, which was invested and built by POWERCHINA in Tongzi county, Guizhou province, realized power generation on Sept 23, marking the start of China's first onshore wind farm, with the largest single-unit capacity being put into operation.

The Huanglian Dam Wind Power Project started construction in January 2020, with a planned installed capacity of 49.5 megawatts. It is expected to install seven 4.5 MW wind turbines and nine 2 MW wind turbines, as well as build a 110 kV booster station.

Due to the high-quality wind resources of the project, it meets the conditions for operating the country's largest onshore single wind turbine of 4.5 MW.

The project adopts the GW155-4.5MW model, with high-efficiency power generation, accurate algorithms, and intelligent optimization of power generation plans. On the basis of ensuring power generation, the common failure problems of the transmission components of traditional models can be avoided in the project, while the whole cycle of affordable projects can be ensured.

After months of hard work, the project has now become the first wind farm in Guizhou province to realize power generation after the novel coronavirus epidemic, completing the 110-kilovolt transmission line project in August and creating favorable conditions for the project's progress.

After the project is completed, it is expected that the annual on-grid power will reach 113 million kilowatt hours, which can save 34,200 metric tons of standard coal, reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by about 665.26 tons, and reduce ash emissions by about 10,100 tons, making great contribution to local economic development and environmental protection.
