Angolan President Joao Lourenco attended the construction completion ceremony of the two hospitals that were constructed by POWERCHINA in Lunda Sul province on Oct 17, as well as unveiled the plaques and approved the acceptance of the two hospitals.
At the ceremony, Lourenco listened to an introduction to the two hospitals, as well as checked and accepted the General Hospital of Saurimo and the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Lunda Sul. The two hospitals were officially handed over to the Angolan medical team, and put into use in the afternoon on the same day.
Lourenco noted that the two hospitals constructed by POWERCHINA are the most advanced and well-equipped hospitals in Lunda Sul. They will provide the people of the three eastern provinces of Angola with the best medical environment to meet national health and medical care demand. The two hospitals will also play an active role in the prevention, control, and treatment of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.
Located in the western suburbs of Saurimo, the General Hospital of Saurimo is a 150-bed comprehensive hospital, with a total construction area of 10,439.93 square meters. It is mainly composed of an outpatient department, an inpatient department, a surgery department, an intensive care department, an emergency care department, an administrative office area, and outdoor annex buildings.
The Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Lunda Sul is located in the eastern suburbs of Saurimo and is a 108-bed specialist hospital, with a total construction area of about 9,488 sq m. It mainly possesses a gynecological area, an obstetrics area, an emergency care area, an intensive care area, an operation area, a neonatal area, an administrative office area, and a subsidiary function area.
