Ding Yanzhang, president of POWERCHINA, held a video meeting with Mohammad Abunayyan, chairman of the Board of Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power, on May 30.

Ding extended thanks to ACWA Power for its long-term trust and support to POWERCHINA.

Noting that ACWA Power is one of the most important customers of POWERCHINA in the Middle East and North Africa and that the two sides have had a long-term and stable cooperative partnership, Ding said there is a much broader scope of business cooperation between the two companies because fruitful results have been made in the strategic alignment of China's Belt and Road Initiative with Saudi Arabia's 2030 Vision over the past few years.

He emphasized that the layout of central business for both ACWA Power and POWERCHINA is highly compatible and that they share a high degree of mutual complementarity in the distribution of industrial chains, calling on the two sides to work together, strengthen mutual trust and cooperation, and leverage their own strength in a move to achieve mutually beneficial development and elevate the bilateral cooperation to a new height.

For his part, Abunayyan gave an introduction about the business operation and development plan of ACWA Power and spoke highly of the outstanding performance of POWERCHINA in the process of bilateral cooperation.

During the past few years, China and Saudi Arabia have made noticeable achievements in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, and the cooperation on the development of new energy and renewable energy has become a new highlight amid their intensified efforts to further advance bilateral relations.

Abunayyan said that POWERCHINA has played an irreplaceable role in the construction of ACWA Power-led key projects in the sectors of energy and electricity production and seawater desalination and made remarkable contributions to the sustainable development of social and economic affairs in host countries, hoping that the two sides will deepen bilateral cooperation on the utilization of new energy, the desalination of seawater and other sectors and promote the restructuring of international energy consumption and the green development.

Those in attendance at the meeting included Li Yanming, deputy Party chief of POWERCHINA; Kashif Rana, chief financial officer and chief portfolio management officer of ACWA Power; Clive Turton, chief investment officer of ACWA Power; Lyu Yunhe, ACWA Power's chief representative in China; and officials from subsidiaries of POWERCHINA.
