POWERCHINA chairman attends opening ceremony of Shenzhen Metro line 12

Line 12 of Shenzhen Metro was put into a trial operation on Nov 28, a ceremony held in Shenzhen city of South China's Guangdong province.

Qin Weizhong, deputy Party secretary and mayor of Shenzhen, announced the opening of the new metro line, which was built by POWERCHINA.

At the invitation of Shenzhen Metro Group, Ding Yanzhang, chairman of POWERCHINA, addressed the opening ceremony. He expressed thanks to the city and the residents for their consistent support of the corporation. Noting that Shenzhen is an important window to China's reform and opening-up, he said it has posted miraculous development over the past four decades.

Ding said POWERCHINA has conducted multi-tier and comprehensive cooperation with Shenzhen. It has constructed several metro lines and intercity rail traffic lines connecting Shenzhen with Guangzhou and other neighboring cities. It has expanded the scope of its cooperation with Shenzhen to ecological and environmental management and the development of green energy, and supported the high-quality development of Shenzhen over the past decade.

Ding stressed there are numerous development opportunities in Shenzhen brought about by the building of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and a pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics. He said POWERCHINA will make full use of its resources and strengths to support a new round of development and construction in Shenzhen. It will work with business partners to assist Shenzhen in becoming a modern, metropolitan and innovative city.

During his stay in Shenzhen, Ding also held a meeting with Xin Jie, Party chief and chairman of Shenzhen Metro Group, over efforts to deepen the strategic cooperation between the two sides. 

With a length of 40.54 kilometers, the newly built Metro line 12 stretches from Paotai East Station to Waterland Resort East Station. It comprises 33 stations, including 20 interchange hubs. As the first metro line with an undersea tunnel in Shenzhen, it has been built with many latest technologies to allow passengers to better appreciate scenery along the route and improve their travel experience.

After the opening of line 12, the total rail traffic length of Shenzhen has surpassed 500 kilometers.
