Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended the ceremony of the unit No 5 & No 6 refurbishment Project of the Mangla Hydropower Station, which is being carried out by POWERCHINA, on Dec 5.
The PM delivered a speech. He praised the efforts made by POWERCHINA and expressed excitement about refurbishment tasks in the next stage of the project.
The refurbishment project of the Mangla Hydropower Station is the first large-scale power station refurbishment project and a key livelihood project in Pakistan, which is mainly used for flood control, irrigation and power generation.
After refurbishment, the power station's installed capacity will increase to 1,300 MW, which would increase electricity supply for 100,000 households and 2 million Pakistanis.
It is intended to help Pakistan overcome its power shortage, optimize the energy structure, reduce power generation costs, increase jobs, and improve infrastructure, as well as contribute to the development of the local economy and improve the lives of Pakistanis.
