POWERCHINA helps Laos upgrade, renovate hospital

A groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrade and renovation of the Luang Prabang Hospital – aided by China and undertaken by POWERCHINA – was held on Jan 14 in Laos.

It is the first Chinese government foreign aid project being undertaken by POWERCHINA in Laos.

The project will mainly include building new surgical and cardiovascular departments, apartments for experts, sewage treatment stations, fire pools and fire pump rooms.

In a speech at the ceremony, Bounfeng Phoummalaysith, Lao Minister of Health, thanked the Chinese government for its strong support for Laos' medical and health care. He said Laos wants to deepen its cooperation with China in the medical and health fields.

Li Zhigong, Chinese Consul General in Luang Prabang, said that China has always supported the development of medical and health care in Laos, and has actively responded to Laos' need for assistance.

The project is expected to further enhance the medical treatment capacity and modernization of Luang Prabang Hospital, Li added.

Moving forwards, POWERCHINA will go all out to promote project construction to live up to the expectations of the governments of China and Laos.
