Senior Lao officials and leaders of POWERCHINA attend the New Year Festival celebration event.
POWERCHINA sponsored the celebration events for the Songkran Festival, known as the Water Splashing Festival of Laos on the Buddhist calendar, which is also the traditional Lao New Year, held in Luang Prabang, a world heritage city in Laos, from April 11 to 20.
A traditional dance performance is staged at the event.
The events included a beauty pageant for "Miss Songkran", the bathing of Buddha images, water splashing for good luck, traditional parades, and ethnic cultural shows.
Sonexay Siphandone, prime minister of Laos, attended the events, cut the ribbon, and struck the ceremonial copper drum to offer New Year's blessings.
At the beauty pageant held on April 12, Bounleuan Manivong, vice governor of LuangPrabang, highly praised the Nam Ou River Cascade Hydropower Project built and operated by POWERCHINA for its contributions to local economic and social development, as well as thanked the company for its support of the event.

Additionally, the Nam Ou hydropower project of POWERCHINA and the company's mascots appeared at the LuangPrabang traditional trade fair on April 14 and 15.

Meanwhile, POWERCHINA sponsored a Dai culture festival held in a village where the project is located.
The head of the village expressed gratitude to POWERCHINA for building the solar streetlights in the village, donating new desks and chairs to local schools, as well as for creating jobs for local residents.
