The Gouina Hydroelectric Power Plant is located on the Senegal River in the Republic of Mali in West Africa, 730 kilometers from the capital city of Bamako and 64 kilometers downstream from the Félou Hydroelectric Plant.

The power plant has received $437 million in investment. It has an installed capacity of 140 megawatts, with a total of three Kaplan turbines, and is set to supply electricity to four countries in the Senegal River Basin: Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, and Guinea.

POWERCHINA began construction on the power plant in November 2017 and completed it on Nov 10, 2022.

The completion of the power plant signifies a new achievement in the collaborative development of regional resources, the promotion of renewable energy, and the advancement of sustainable development in Senegal River Basin countries.

The Gouina project was named the "Top China Overseas Engineering Campsite" by the China International Contractors Association in 2018.
