The Abu Dhabi Taweelah Desalination Project is the first large-scale overseas EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project of its kind undertaken by a Chinese company.
Construction of the project commenced in May 2019 and it is scheduled for completion in November 2023.
It is currently the largest desalination project to adopt the world's most advanced reverse osmosis seawater technology, with a daily production capacity of 900,000 cubic meters of water.
When the project is fully operational, it will meet the water needs of nearly 2 million local residents, significantly alleviating the UAE's critical shortage of freshwater resources and benefiting people's livelihoods, the local economy and the social development of the UAE.
