The Jatigede Dam, located in Sumedang Regency, West Java, Indonesia, is the country's second-largest piece of hydraulic infrastructure.
It consists of an 1,800-meter-long, 110-meter-high clay-core rockfill dam, diversion tunnels, spillways, and other related auxiliary facilities.
The dam was jointly built by POWERCHINA and four major Indonesian construction companies. During the dam's construction, POWERCHINA demonstrated its extensive experience as an international contractor, earning high recognition and praise from the dam owner.
On Aug 31, 2015, the dam officially closed its gates and began impounding water, and two years later, it was completed and handed over.
The dam provides irrigation water for 90,000 hectares of downstream farmland, increasing rice production by 450,000 metric tons annually. It also offers multiple benefits, including flood control, power generation, water supply, tourism, and fisheries, benefiting more than 1.1 million residents.
