The Al-Kharsaah Solar Power Plant, developed in the Al-Kharsaah area of western Qatar on a 10-square-kilometer area of land, is the country's first non-fossil fuel power plant and currently the world's third-largest single-unit photovoltaic power project.

It is also the largest photovoltaic power project in the world that utilizes a sun-tracking system and bifacial solar modules.

The plant has a total installed capacity of 800 megawatts. It commenced construction in July 2020 and was completed in October 2022.

The project can provide Qatar with approximately 1.8 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 900,000 tons per year.

Furthermore, as a flagship green energy demonstration project of the Qatari government, it not only provided green and clean energy for the Qatar World Cup, fulfilling its "Green World Cup" commitment, but has also set the stage for sustainable development, allowing Qatar to gradually reduce its reliance on oil and gas resources, carry out its energy transition and diversify its economy.
