The Shelek Wind Farm.
The Shelek Wind Farm in Kazakhstan has a total installed capacity of 60 megawatts, with 24 GW130/2500 wind turbines installed.
As the first new energy project invested in by POWERCHINA in Central Asia, the design, construction, and execution of the project all adhered to Chinese standards.
Construction on the project commenced in June 2019 and it was completed in July 2022. It is expected to generate an annual average of 228 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.
The project has effectively alleviated the power shortages in the southern region of Kazakhstan and improved the overly one-sided power production structure, contributing to Kazakhstan's efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
In addition, the project is an important milestone in relations between China and Kazakhstan in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and has been included in the list of key projects for China-Kazakhstan production capacity cooperation.
