An aerial view of the Zhanatas Wind Farm.
The Zhanatas Wind Farm is located in Zhanatas, Zhambyl region, Kazakhstan. It consists of 40 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.5 megawatts each.
Construction on the farm began in October 2018 and was completed in June 2021.
The farm will produce 350 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, which is enough to meet the electricity needs of a million households, greatly alleviating the electricity supply shortage in the southern region of the country.
Compared to thermal power plants with the same capacity, the project saves approximately 110,000 metric tons of standardized coal annually and substantially reduces greenhouse gas emissions and ash residue, serving as an important demonstration for environmental protection and decarbonization efforts in Kazakhstan.
