The 2023 "Modernisation of the Year & 21st Century Construction" award ceremony took place at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Poland on Sept 27. The Szalejów Górny Reservoir Project, built by POWERCHINA, received the Excellence Award.

This project leverages the local hilly terrain, featuring a 735-meter-long dam on the Bystrzyca River to create a flood control reservoir with a designed capacity of 10.67 million cubic meters.

The Szalejów Górny Reservoir is one of four hydraulic projects POWERCHINA has undertaken in southwestern Poland, and it was officially handed over and put into operation on Oct 31, 2023.

Since September 2024, many regions in Poland have faced severe flooding. The four flood control projects, including the Szalejów Górny Reservoir, successfully managed these floods, receiving widespread praise from project owners, local residents, and government officials. This achievement has strengthened POWERCHINA's reputation in the local market.

The "Modernisation of the Year & 21st Century Construction" awards ceremony, founded in 1996 by the Association for the Protection of National Material Heritage, is the only national award ceremony in the Polish construction industry and holds significant prestige.
