The No 4 dry dock at Saudi Arabia's King Salman International Complex Project.
The No 4 dry dock at Saudi Arabia's King Salman International Complex Project, constructed by POWERCHINA, was completed and handed over on April 14.
It is the core component of the entire shipyard project and serves as the primary site for ship assembly, launching, and repair. Measuring 550 meters long, 75 meters wide, and 13.8 meters deep, the dock required 126,000 cubic meters of concrete and is the largest of its kind in the Middle East, ranking among the largest dry docks in the world. Thanks to its massive size, it can accommodate the construction of a 90,000-metric-ton VLCC supertanker or two vessels simultaneously.
POWERCHINA adopted several advanced and high-difficulty engineering techniques to ensure quality and speed and implemented a range of cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing measures, such as optimizing the concrete keel block structure and using integrated platform concrete pouring. These efforts reduced costs by over $15 million.
The No 4 dry dock handover highlights POWERCHINA's exceptional management, technical expertise, and meticulous work ethic, earning high praise and trust from the client, Saudi Aramco, and the operator, International Maritime Industries (IMI).
