POWERCHINA held a China-Iraq cultural exchange event on May 8 at the Farah School in Nasiriyah, capital of Iraq's Dhi Qar province.

The event saw POWERCHINA employees become cultural ambassadors, offering students an engaging introduction to Chinese culture.

Ma Xinhe, a member of the Dhi Qar project team, captivated the audience with stories of historical, cultural, and trade exchanges between China and Iraq, delivered in fluent Arabic. The interactive session that followed saw enthusiastic participation from students, who expressed keen interest in Chinese history, culture, tourism, and cuisine.

The event took place in the school library, which features Arabic-language picture books on Chinese and Iraqi cultures. Muhannad Abu Al-Riza, a teacher at the school, expressed optimism that these books would serve as bridges for cultural exchanges between China and Iraq, sowing seeds of friendship among the children.

The project team donated backpacks, stationery, and other educational supplies to the students.

POWERCHINA has constructed 679 demonstration schools across Iraq, with Farah School being one of 106 in Dhi Qar province. Farah School was the first demonstration school completed and handed over by POWERCHINA in Iraq, which earned high praise from the Iraqi Prime Minister.

Principal Hamza Saad noted that Farah alleviated "schooling difficulties" faced by local students and stands as a symbol of friendly cooperation between Iraq and China.
