Ghana's Bui power station is put into operation

As the No 3 generating unit started up successfully and was puts into operation, the key project, Bui Power Station in the Republic Ghana and constructed by POWERCHINA, has been put into commercial operation, which means that its commercial operation is ahead of the schedule, and the target of "Putting three units into operation in one year" for the project will be achieved by 2013.

Bui hydropower station is situated in the boundary between the north of Ghana and Cote Divoire, on Volta River 150km upstream the Volta Reservoir, the largest reservoir in the world. This is an EPC hydropower project constructed by B8 of POWERCHINA, consisting of a 110m high RCC dam and a power house at dam toe. The Station will be installed with 3 Francis turbines, with a total installed capacity of 400MW and an annual energy output of 1 billion kWh.

The construction work of Bui Hydropower Station started in August, 2007. Over the past 5 years, B8 always held high the spirit of "Self-Improvement and Dare to Fight", and by sticking to the concept of "Scientific management, benefit first, getting a foothold in Bouvet and expanding to the whole Africa", it had successfully completed a series of milestones by overcoming lots of difficulties.
