The Butajira-Worabe Power Transmission and Transformation Project completes power transmission.

The Butajira-Worabe Power Transmission and Transformation Project, carried out by POWERCHINA, recently passed the first test and second commissioning trial in Ethiopia. Both main transformers at the station operated continuously without any faults for 96 hours, completing their power transmission task.

This marks the successful completion of the project, which has a total length of 36.08 kilometers from the Butajira Substation to the Worabe Substation.

The project consisted of the construction of the Worabe Substation, the expansion of the Butajira Substation, and the construction of high-voltage transmission lines. It is approximately 200 kilometers from the capital, Addis Ababa.

Since the commencement of construction in April 2023, POWERCHINA has overcome numerous challenges arising from factors such as the natural environment and received commendation from the Worabe municipal government.

The mayor of Worabe expressed appreciation for the company's professionalism and efficient service and thanked the company for its contribution to local power supply and economic development.

Following the successful power transmission, there has been a significant increase in Worabe's electricity supply. This has resolved long-standing issues such as power shortages and blackouts, meeting the electricity needs of nearly 3 million people in Worabe and improving the lives of local residents and businesses.
