Groundbreaking ceremony of the 50MW Shinyanga Solar Power Plant project.

Dotto Mashaka Biteko, Tanzania's deputy prime minister and minister of energy, attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the 50MW Shinyanga Solar Power Plant project, undertaken by POWERCHINA, on March 14.

Also present at the ceremony were the senior officials from Tanzania, representatives from POWERCHINA, as well as representatives from the local community.

During the ceremony, Dotto expressed his hope that the project would be completed as scheduled so that local residents can use clean energy as early as possible.

The Shinyanga Solar Power Plant is the country's first under-construction new energy project, also the one with the largest individual capacity among all photovoltaic projects signed in the country. Therefore, this project holds significant importance for the national new energy development.

The main construction scope of the project includes designing and building a 50MW photovoltaic power plant, constructing the transmission and distribution lines, as well as undertaking operational maintenance during the defect liability period.

Upon completion, the project will further alleviate the pressure of electricity shortages in the region, and provide safe and clean electricity for local residents.
