Xibei Engineering Corporation, POWERCHINA has signed the EPC contract of El Tiger hydropower project with a local investor – HIDOREQUINOCCIO – on Jan 24, 2014. The total contractual value of the project is USD 236 million. It is located on the Guaillabamba River in the North of the country, 160 kilometers from the capital and has a total installed capacity of 80MW. It is a run-of-the-river plant with major structures such as a free falling weir with spillway, flood discharge bottom outlet and riverbed powerhouse and highest point of the dam is 52m. The EPC contract includes specific designs, civil construction, M&E equipment procurement, supply and installment, and commissioning of the power station and a 230kV transmission line of 16km. The construction period will last 54 months.
