On July 3, 2015, the second unit of the Karakuz Hydropower Station was connected successfully to the power grid for power generation.
The Karakuz Hydropower Station is equipped with two 40.2MW six-nozzle Pelton turbine-generator units. It is the first equipment supply project including mechanical and electrical installation undertaken by the Consortium established between POWERCHINA Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited and a Turkish local installation company, KESIR.
The supply and installation contract for a full set of electrical and mechanical equipment was signed on May 31, 2012. Over the last three years, the project team has given full play to its advantages of design and overall project management ability, and overcome various difficulties. The project has gone smoothly with excellent quality and effective cost control.
