PCCC signs to construct Bengalese railway

Updated: July 03,2017

The Power Construction Corporation of China (PCCC) signed a contract with Bengalese Ministry of Railways in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on June 19.

The project with a total length of 17.05 km will link Dhaka and Narayanganj, two prime industrial zones in Bangladesh, helping boost local economic development.

The 18-month contract will cost 33.32 million dollars. The sources of funds are from the government of Bangladesh and foreign capital.

The contract also echoed the Chinese “Belt and Road” initiative. Bangladesh is a key nation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) economic corridor. PCCC has already completed 9 projects in Bangladesh and is now providing assistance for 9 others, including some national-level projects. The company began operations in the country in the 1990s when China first entered the Bengalese market.
