POWERCHINA chairman attends entrepreneurs' conference

Yan Zhiyong, president of POWERCHINA, attended the opening ceremony of the Sixth Conference of Chinese and African Entrepreneurs and the High-level Dialogue Between Chinese and African Leaders and Business Representatives in Beijing on Sept 3.

African leaders, including South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, delivered speeches at the conference, addressing the China-Africa cooperation plans set forth at the FOCAC Johannesburg summit and how they will aid Africa's economy and social development.

A short film named "A Shared Dream, A Shared Future" showed attendees some of POWERCHINA's landmark projects in Equatorial Guinea, Cote d'Ivoire, Ethiopia Morocco and Egypt.

As a leading force in China's "Going Global" strategy, Power Construction Corp of China, or POWERCHINA, has expanded its footprint and worked in more than 50 African countries over the past 60 years.

From building infrastructure projects for local people to investing in key economic sectors, the corporation is pumping resources into every aspect of Africa's infrastructure construction and integrating itself into the Belt and Road Initiative.

As of May 2018, POWERCHINA has established 85 overseas companies in 41 African countries. The corporation is currently working on 837 project contracts worth 239.2 billion yuan ($35.1 billion) in 46 African countries.

Covering a wide array of sectors, including power, transportation and construction, these POWERCHINA projects are bringing substantial benefits to local people.
