Free clinic aids villagers along China-Laos railway

Updated: January 15,2019

The second branch of Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co Ltd, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA, responsible for construction of the fourth section of the China-Laos railway, carried out free medical consultations in five villages along the construction site.

The fourth section of the China-Laos railway is located in southern Luang Prabang, Laos, which is full of dense forests, valleys and mountains.

Most of the construction sites consist of rough roads with a harsh natural environment, and medical care are extremely uneven throughout the region.

Most of the villagers suffer from rheumatoid arthritis due to perennial dampness and accumulated fatigue, as well as inadequate medical facilities and limited medical care.

After gaining an understanding of the situation, the project leaders immediately connected with local governments and arranged for medical staff and external coordinators to conduct free medical visits to help villagers suffering from diseases.

The project department sent a total of five employees and two vehicles equipped with the appropriate drugs.

The team needed to cross a river to enter Longcun village. The medical supplies were delivered safely across the river on bamboo rafts. After arriving, the team was warmly received by the villagers.
