Dr. Chen, a doctor of the project department, deftly blends traditional Chinese medicine with Western medicine. He is a skilled practitioner of Chinese medicine, especially in when it comes to massage and acupuncture.
Since the project started more than a year ago, he has handled a number of emergency medical situations, and is well respected by the other project workers.
Dr. Chen and other medical staff conducted routine physical examinations for residents of all ages throughout the village. The procedure included blood pressure measurements and Chinese medicinal treatments.
Following the principle of "teaching a man to fish is better than giving a man a fish", Dr. Chen and his team taught local doctors basic medical knowledge and pharmacology. The villagers patiently waited for their appointment according to the queue organized before the activity.
Doctors asked villagers about their health conditions, distributed medicine, patiently answered questions and taught common medical and health knowledge.
In addition, to treat rheumatic diseases among the elderly, Dr. Chen massaged their shoulders and necks and performed acupuncture.
After physiotherapy, villager Tao Kangli nearly regained her ability to live independently.
