Ugandan President attends Isimba Hydroelectric Power Station launching ceremony

He said he expects to see more cooperation between the two countries with the development of the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative.

Zheng Zhuqiang, Chinese ambassador to Uganda, delivered a speech at the ceremony, saying that China and Uganda have extensive cooperation in various fields including infrastructure construction and energy. As a representative of Sino-Uganda cooperation, the Isimba Hydroelectric Power is expected to benefit local residents. He also expects to see more cooperation between China and Uganda in the future.

Installed with four axial-flow slurry turbines, the station’s total installed capacity is 183.2 MW with an average annual power generation capacity of 1.04 billion kWh, and it is expected to promote Ugandan economic development.

Other attendees of the ceremony included vice general manager of CWE Jiang Shouguo, officials of SINOHYDRO BUREAU 1 Co, and Ugandan officials.
