Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo attended the commencement ceremony of the Tamale Interchange in Tamale on April 10.
The Tamale Interchange, which is expected to be completed within 30 months, is one of the four priority infrastructure projects to be constructed by POWERCHINA under an EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract.

The signing ceremony took place last September during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation for a total of 10 roads and bridges between the government and a consortium comprising POWERCHINA's engineering corporations including Zhongnan, Huadong, Beijing, and Northwest led by Sinohydro Bureau 8 Co Ltd.
At the ceremony, Akufo-Addo stated that the project will effectively improve road conditions in Ghana, promote economic exchanges in various regions, and create more employment opportunities that will benefit the Ghanaian people.
He praised POWERCHINA as a responsible enterprise, hoping it can complete the project as soon as possible to help Ghana continue on the path of progress and prosperity. He also called for full support from the Ghanaian government and local people.
Wang Shiting, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, affirmed POWERCHINA's contribution to the construction of Bui Dam and other projects in Ghana.

He reviewed the development of bilateral relations, as well as economic and trade cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada, expressing wishes that the cooperation between POWERCHINA and Ghana's government can yield more results.
Li Yanming, deputy general manager of POWERCHINA, said that POWERCHINA is willing to further deepen and expand its close cooperation with the Ghanaian government, as well as make efforts for the further promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative on the African continent. The enterprise will work hard to facilitate China-Africa cooperation in infrastructure and capacity.
Since entering the Ghanaian market in 2004, POWERCHINA has actively participated in the construction of energy, power, and infrastructure projects in the country.

Among a large number of cooperative projects, the Bui Dam is the first large-scale project with mixed loans in Africa, carrying out functions such as irrigation, agricultural planting, fisheries, and sightseeing. It has provided a successful example in related fields for others to follow.
With various projects currently proceeding, more than 6,000 technical personnel including civil engineers, equipment operators, and managers have been trained for work in Ghana.
