Updated: May 09,2019

A leader of POWERCHINA Resources Ltd (PCR), a subsidiary of POWERCHINA, met with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing on May 7 to boost cross-cultural links and promote the electric power marketing of the Port Qasim Coal-fired Power Plant, a project in Pakistan built by PCR.

The date also marked the one-year anniversary of the plant's commercial operation and generation of over 10 billion kilowatt-hours of power.

Yao congratulated the plant on one year of safe operation and power generation. He also spoke highly of the significant roles of POWERCHINA and the plant in the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The PCR leader expressed gratitude to Yao and the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan for their long-term interest and support. In addition, he described the company's investment in Belt and Road countries and their management concept, noting that the company has overcome numerous challenges since the Qasim power plant entered commercial operation.

In the past year, the plant has supported 10 percent of Pakistan's power supply, propelled the country's economic and social development, improved local residents' lives, and served as a role model for other projects under the CPEC initiative.

He added that POWERCHINA will continue to participate in CPEC construction and exert its advantages to further facilitate Pakistan's economic growth.

The ambassador affirmed the company's successful practice of applying its management concept to the project, asserting that POWERCHINA will focus on security to ensure the plant's stable and sustainable operation, fulfill its corporate social responsibility, enhance the promotion work, strengthen POWERCHINA and the plant's leading roles in the CPEC initiative, boost the China-Pakistan friendship, and make more achievements in honor of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
