The completion of the power plant has solved the urgent problem of electricity shortages in the region. It demonstrated the strength of Chinese companies in the field of power infrastructure construction, and marked the further deepening of cooperation between China and Myanmar in power and clean energy.
During the project implementation, SEPCOIII took root in Myanmar to drive local social development.
Since the construction of the Thaketa power plant, which is the first project undertaken by SEPCOIII in the EPC mode in Myanmar, the company has provided more than 30,000 jobs for Myanmar residents.

The company has also paid attention to the future development of the local community. For example, it built community libraries and other infrastructure, as well as donated daily necessities such as grain and oil to local temples. Its good deeds have effectively enhanced the reputation of POWERCHINA and demonstrated its positive corporate image.
In recent years, the Myanmar government has vigorously developed its power industry to promote social and economic development. It has proposed to complete national electrification by 2025.
The power infrastructure construction cooperation and power grid interconnectivity between China and Myanmar are important parts of the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the backbone of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.
POWERCHINA has been actively participating in the construction of electricity projects in Myanmar, aiming to help Myanmar resolve the problem of power shortages at an early date, as well as contribute to the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
