Updated: July 03,2019

POWERCHINA's subsidiary Sinohydro Group signed a general contract for the El Tambolar comprehensive water conservancy project with San Juan provincial power utility EPSE in Argentina on July 3.

It is the first spot exchange hydropower project signed by POWERCHINA in Argentina and also the largest spot exchange project in the country in recent years.

Located in the northwestern part of Argentina's San Juan province, the project is located at the leading reservoir on the San Juan River with the total installed capacity of 83.5 megawatts (MW) and the storage capacity of nearly 700 million cubic meters.

During the 60 months construction period, the project will provide more than 1,400 jobs for the local area, as well as provide sufficient water for local production, which is of great significance for solving local employment issues. It will also promote the economic and social development of San Juan.

POWERCHINA entered the Argentine market in 2011. To date, it has signed more than 20 projects with a total amount of more than $2.5 billion.

Since October 2017, the Jujuy 300 MW photovoltaic (PV) power station project, the Goldwind 355 MW wind power project group, and the Cafayate 100 MW PV project have been started.
