World's largest production base for green aggregate enters production

Updated: July 08,2019

A ceremony that marked the commercial operation and production of the first phase of the Changjiu (Shenshan) limestone mining project was held at the Shenshan mine, Guichi district of Chizhou, Anhui province on June 28.

The project consists of a mine, logistics corridor, and wharf. The mine, located in Pailou town of Guichi district, covers an area of 4.73 square kilometers, with the resource reserves totaling 1.91 billion tons. It is the world's largest production base for green construction aggregate.

The 12.98-km logistics corridor runs through four tunnels and four roads, with a transport capability of 13,000 tons per hour. It serves as a long-distance conveyer belt system and has the world's longest transport capability.

The wharf, situated in Chizhou port, includes two phases of projects, designed with 12 5,000-ton berths and an annual handling capacity of 60 million tons. The shoreline will stretch 1,600 meters in total. Upon completion, it will become the largest dedicated wharf in China's inland rivers.

During construction, the contractor, POWERCHINA Anhui Changjiu Advanced Materials Co, adopted green processing technology, building a garden-style landscape in the industrial area. The fully-closed mine and logistics corridor feature a dust-removal system and noise reduction technology respectively. In addition, the wharf has been equipped with a sewage treatment system to realize waste-water recycling and ensure zero discharge.

The project is expected to serve as a benchmark and model of the green aggregate industry, facilitate the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, boost the integrated development of Yangtze River Delta region, advance the sustainable development of the aggregate industry, as well as contribute to the construction of a more environmentally friendly China.

POWERCHINA Anhui Changjiu Advanced Materials Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA, was founded in January 2016. It was co-funded by Sinohydro Bureau 8 Co, Chizhou Jinqiao Investment Co, POWERCHINA STECOL Corp, and Tibet Tianlu Holdings Co.

With a focus on sci-tech innovation, the company has established an academician workstation to join in the compilation of standards for the national green aggregate industry. It has cooperated with domestic universities and science research institutes to promote the integrated development of production, teaching, and research. It has also introduced a smart control system to improve production and management efficiency.
